1 in 2 Europeans is satisfied with their looks

For Europeans, looking in the mirror each day is both a source of dread and delight. 63% of individuals reporting high levels of satisfaction with outward appearance are strongly driven by self-acceptance.

Happiness with their overall appearance divides Europeans: about half of them (49%) are satisfied, 21%are unsatisfied, and about 1 in 3 (29%) are neither here nor there. Among those who are happy with what they see in the mirror, 63% accept themselves as they are, and 28% report having become more relaxed about their looks as they have gotten older. The main reason for dissatisfaction with outward appearance among Europeans is the feeling of being overweight (49%), followed by the notion that other people are simply more attractive (23%). In terms of taking permanent action to increase happiness with their appearance, only 2%of Europeans state that they have had cosmetic surgery to improve their appearance.

With its 10th anniversary edition, the STADA Health Report ventures beyond identifying trends in Europeans’ thoughts and worries about all things health, to also offer actionable solutions for problem areas.

Find out more about these issues, their underlying causes and possible solutions in the full Health Report. And we will share more exciting insights over the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
