Fit body, happy mind – or vice versa?
The Health Report 2024 confirms that physical fitness and mental well-being are linked – and perhaps more closely than one might think. Overall, 2 in 3 Europeans rate their mental health as good.
Interest in mental health, its importance, and strategies to maintain and improve it have become more and more relevant – not only in public discourse, but also in private and professional contexts. The STADA Health Report continues to shed light on this matter, once again revealing compelling connections in 2024: the majority of Europeans report good mental health overall, and physical health and mental well-being appear closely linked.
With 65% of Europeans perceiving their mental health as ‘very’ or ‘quite good’, their mental baseline seems stable. Only 9% of Europeans report poor mental health. Overall, women tend to struggle less with their mental well-being 61%than men 69%.
A closer look at this year’s mental health results reveals a major link between our body and mind: those who feel physically fit are much more likely to rate their mental health as 'good' (83%) than those on the opposite end of the fitness spectrum (28%). One more reason to get up and get moving!
With its 10th anniversary edition, the STADA Health Report ventures beyond identifying trends in Europeans’ thoughts and worries about all things health, to also offer actionable solutions for problem areas.
Find out more about these issues, their underlying causes and possible solutions in the full Health Report. And we will share more exciting insights over the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
