STADA Figure of the Month - Every 2nd European does not know their vaccination status

  • 04/12/2020
  • Press Release

Bad Vilbel, Germany; 4 December 2020 – Immunity, approvals, sceptics and opponents - in 2020, the topic of "vaccination" has never been far from the headlines. But without a global pandemic, many Europeans would barely have given the issue a second thought.

The STADA Health Report 2020 shows: Half of all Europeans do not know when they last checked their vaccination documents - or where they actually are. The Serbs admit this quite openly (74 percent). By contrast, by reviewing "once in a quarter", Germans check their certificate of vaccination most often (19 percent). However, only regular checking of the vaccination status and refreshing of vaccinations can guarantee lasting protection. With such rare checks, it is not surprising that barely one in five Europeans has a clear picture which diseases can be vaccinated against.

Despite this apparently relaxed attitude to documenting which injections they have had, 82 percent of the Europeans are in favour of compulsory vaccination. The most frequently cited reason for this is "to protect society" (47 percent). The Swiss (70 percent), Austrians (72 percent) and Russians (73 percent) are more sceptical about obliging people to get vaccinated. The fear of possible side effects is reason enough for some Europeans to reject such a measure (11 percent).

These are the results of the second international STADA Health Report 2020, a representative study with more than 24,000 respondents from twelve countries at the beginning of 2020 - before the global corona pandemic. On behalf of STADA Arzneimittel AG, the market research institute Kantar interviewed about 2,000 people each aged between 18 and 99 years from Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom on the topic "The road to the future of health".
